The John O’Halloran Initiative – Mental Health & Wellbeing in the Property Industry

David Happell was delighted to support the Mental Health & Wellbeing in the Property Industry event in memory of John O’Halloran FRICS, former MD of BAA Lynton, who took his own life in March 2015.

The group was initiated by John’s former friends and colleagues, with the full support of John’s family. It was designed to bring together leading business people and mental health professionals to challenge the stigma attached to mental illness and share and promote best practice when it comes to mental health.

Mental health is now the single largest cause of death in men under the age of 45, with 1 in 4 people experiencing a mental health problem each year in the UK.

Hosted by U+I at Howick Place, there were a number of thought provoking speakers, case studies, and discussion sessions based around the theme: the importance of positive mental health and wellbeing.

David commented “Mental Health and Wellbeing is gaining increasing attention though is still an issue which most businesses find difficult to deal with. The seminar provided me with some insight to the issues and some useful guidance for our practice and people”.
