Northern Spain the environmentally friendly way

At exigere we pride ourselves on being a ‘responsible’ organisation. To us that means being a business that has a positive impact; on our employees, our clients and colleagues, the wider construction industry, on our neighbours in our local community and, of course, the wider environment.

When discussion arose around an away day, we were very clear that we would look to offset the carbon emissions of the trip. As a business we don’t leave London that often, but when we do, we don’t do it at the expense of the planet.

We were therefore delighted to partner with Carbon Footprint Ltd to offset the carbon from our company away day to Bilbao in the Basque region of northern Spain.

As stated on carbonfootprint.com, “Carbon offsetting is a way to reduce the emissions that you can’t. It both helps to combat global climate change as well as caring for local communities. In many instances providing much needed employment, health improvement, biodiversity and broad social benefits to impoverished communities.”

They help with ways you can calculate or measure your carbon footprint, help you start reducing your carbon emissions and offset any remaining or unavoidable carbon emissions via their high quality carbon offset projects.

With the help of Carbon Footprint we have calculated the carbon footprint of the trip, doubled it and offset it by way of a reforestation project in the UK. As a result of our away day 50 trees will now be planted across London and Thames as part of the UK Tree Planting Programme.
